A DEBATE on fracking has taken place at South West College in Enniskillen.
The event, organised by the business services team, coincided with Global Entrepreneurship Week and involved students from business, ICT, sport, health and social care.
During the debate entitled ‘Frack On or Frack Off’ students had the opportunity to vote for or against a motion that fracking is “essential to the future of Fermanagh businesses”.
102 students in all participated in the event with the best debaters receiving cash prizes for their contribution. The students debated against each other and then the audience decided which option to vote for based on the strength of each discussion.
The debate was ranked the most highly rated on the Global Entrepreneurship website for the day, with organisers saying it “recognised the importance of the student voice.”
