FERMANAGH man Brian J. Falconer is one step closer to Oscar-winning glory today (Thursday) with the announcement of the Academy Awards nominations.

The film producer is in the running in the Live Action Short category.

It’s a huge coup for the County, and its significance has not been lost on Brian.

“It’s putting Fermanagh in the spotlight for all the right reasons,” he said at the end of last year after learning that his film, Boogaloo and Graham, directed by Michael Lennox and Ronan Blaney, had been shortlisted.

Shot in April last year, the film is set in 1970s Belfast.

It follows the story of two young boys who discover the facts about life with the help of their pet chickens.

Shot over four days it had its premiere a Toronto International Film Festival.

The 87th Academy Awards ceremony takes place next month.
