A couple who look after displaced children in Haiti, which suffered a devastating earthquake five years ago this month, will be visiting Fivemiletown this weekend.
Yvrose Telfort Ismael, and her husband, Pierre Richard, currently look after 31 children after their attempts to reunite them with extended family members was not possible. On Saturday evening, the couple along with two young women from the area, Leandra Hale and Rebecca Benson, will be giving a presentation in Fivemiletown College on the their work at Hope House and Hope Christian Academy, beginning at 7.30pm. Leandra and Rebecca have just returned from Haiti where they were part of a group of volunteers supporting medical and health services on the island.
Yvrose and Pierre Richard are also in Ireland to receive a special award. Yvrose has been nominated for a humanitarian award, the prestigious William Jefferson Clinton Goodwill For Haiti Award which she is receiving in Dublin later to-day. The award recognises an outstanding individual, who has done extraordinary work for and on behalf of the people of Haiti. The talk is open to everyone to attend.
