FERMANAGH District Council has vowed to pay tribute to everyone involved in the nine week search for Emyvale man, Kieran McAree.
Last week The Impartial Reporter carried an article listing the many people and organisations who volunteered to help the McAree family bring Kieran back home.
And at Monday night’s full Council meeting, Erne West councillor, Alex Baird described their selfless and generous acts of kindness as an example of “real community spirit”.
23-year-old Kieran had been missing since December 17.
Members of the PSNI, North West Mountain Rescue team and volunteers from Fermanagh and further afield painstakingly combed the waters near Enniskillen’s Round O for nine weeks in the hope that he would be found.
“Thank God Kieran’s family now have closure,” Mr. Baird acknowledged at this week’s meeting.
“That unfortunate incident showed what real community spirit is about in Fermanagh and Northern Ireland-wide.
“I would like to propose this Council recognises and pays tribute to all involved in helping the McAree family.” His proposal was unanimously accepted.
