Ballinamallard will be hoping their strong home form will help them seize what could be a crucial three points on Saturday when they take on Glenavon at Ferney Park.

The Mallards have not lost a home game since the first day of November, securing four draws and three victories in their last seven league fixtures at Ferney Park, including draws against the current top three sides in the league table.

With second from bottom Warrenpoint up against title challengers Linfield on Saturday, Ballinamallard could find themselves eight points clear of the second relegation spot if results go their way on Saturday.

“Our home form has been good and I hope that continues until the end of the season,” said manager Whitey Anderson. “We are four games unbeaten after the bad result against Warrenpoint at the end of January but we have to keep that going. We can’t rest on our laurels. You are only as good as your last game and we have to keep going.” Whitey believes the team spirit in the dressing room will be a vital factor as the team approach the run-in. “I’m very confident,” he said. “Training has been very good and the players have been working extremely hard. There is a great camaraderie within the changing room. There is a fantastic togetherness and we are all fighting together and that is vitally important.” Glenavon have had a good season and lie in sixth place in the league.

They have already secured a top half finish, but despite the fact they have little to play for, Whitey is not expecting an easy ride when they come to Fermanagh. “It will be a very tough game, as it always is against them,” he said. “They are a very experienced team and they know how to play the game. They are free spirits going forward and they have a lot of people that can score goals. We are going to have to defend extremely well but if we defend the way we have been then we will be in with a very good chance. If we get the opportunities we have to take them.” Johnny Lafferty will miss the game as he serves the last ban of his two game suspension, but Whitey is hopeful he will be the only absentee.

Chris Crilly is on the way back from injury and played for the Reserves last week, while Steve Feeney, who picked up a knock in the final minutes of the game against Institute, will have a late fitness test but is hopeful of being available for selection.
