POLICE are examining an 'object' at an address on Clabby Road, Furnish, Fivemiletown, this morning (Friday).

The PSNI have not confirmed the exact location, but it is believed to have been found on a lane-way close to Furnish Kennels, the dog breeding firm which featured in a BBC Spotlight programme earlier this week.

Condemning the incident, UUP Erne East councillor Victor Warrington said perpetrators had potentially put the lives of humans and animals at risk.

"My understanding is that a suspicious device has been found on the lane of Furnish Kennels," he told impartialreporter.com.

"I believe police are waiting on the bomb disposal unit."

Expressing concern for the safety of those in the area, Mr. Warrington said he believed the incident had been prompted by the Spotlight report earlier this week.

"Everyone is entitled to protest, but that needs to be done in a peaceful and dignified manner and this is certainly not the right way to go about it," he said.

DUP councillor for the area, Paul Robinson echoed these sentiments.

"That is what that programme has brought to this area -- it has brought bombs back to this area," he said.

"I know that place very well. It is a 'class one' facility.

"There was an Animal Welfare inspection carried out there this week and there were no complaints about it."

He said too, that businesses in the area had been disrupted this morning as police carried out their examination of the object.

"I have been getting calls from people saying they can't get out of their houses, they can't get into the town. They are up in arms about it."
