Ballinamallard 3 Warrenpoint 3 Ballinamallard finished ninth in the Premier League after a final day 3-3 draw with Warrenpoint.

Ballinamallard fielded a much changed team with the departing Mark Stafford and Davy Kee both suspended along with James McKenna. John Currie returned from China to take a berth in the midfield, while Gary Phair made a rare start at right back and Adam Murphy retained his spot in goal.

After an evenly contested opening ten minutes it was Ballinamallard who grabbed the early advantage. John Currie’s through ball released Liam Martin and he fired a low shot across the keeper into the bottom corner of the net.

Within a minute Lafferty almost added a second but after controlling a cross from McCartney and cutting inside the defender he blazed his shot over the crossbar.

Ballinamallard were looking comfortable at the back but gifted Warrenpoint an equaliser when a poor Adam Murphy clearance was seized upon by Warrenpoint and Gary Phair committed a foul in the area, with Daniel Hughes levelling the score from the spot. Within ten minutes Ballinamallard were further behind when ‘Point created space on the left wing and Johnny Frazer scored his first goal for the away side.

Ballinamallard brought on Johnny Courtney to replace Curry at half time and the winger made an immediate impact, supplying Ryan Campbell who lifted the ball over the advancing keeper. Warrenpoint responded within a minute however when Daniel Hughes put them back into the lead, and came within inches of going further ahead on 65 minutes when McGuigan volleyed just wide of the post.

Ballinamallard were struggling to create chances and it looked as though the visitors were on course to claim all three points, but Steve Feeney rose to head home a Courtney corner and claim a share of the points for the Mallards.
