Hannah Su NEWLYWED, Hannah Su stood in the 2011 Assembly/Council elections and last year’s local council elections, all for the Alliance Party.

Living in Dungannon, she has family both here and in England.

Q. Which party would you back in a coalition situation, Labour or Conservative, and why?

Alliance doesn’t have a shopping list in the event of a hung Parliament. If elected, I will be looking to see which party will do most to help deliver on the promises contained in our manifesto.

Q. If elected, what specific actions would you take to improve wages, health services and the economy in Fermanagh South Tyrone?

Wages: I would increase the National Minimum wage.

Health Services: more hospital beds. Better access to GPs especially for those who work.

Economy: More investment in business start ups for young people because young people are the future.

Q. How would you alleviate the impact of welfare reform on Fermanagh South Tyrone where there are 9,500 DLA claimants ?

When welfare reform is eventually passed, it will lead to a lot of people having to deal with the new systems and rules. It will be vitally important that independent advice is available to ensure people are aware of what they are entitled to.

Q. What is your message to the 30 per cent of locals who did not cast their vote in the last Westminster election; how can you inspire them?

Every vote matters in this election, if you do not vote then you will be voiceless in determining who represents you in Westminster. If you are concerned about the plans for education, health or the economy, then the way you can change these issues is by voting for a candidate who you believe will best serve the people and tackle these issues.

Q. How do you think St Angelo Airport could be better used to Femanagh and South Tyrone’s advantage? Is this something you will focus on if elected?

I would like to see the flying school re-opened, the Council needs to do something about this. I will focus on this if elected. It could also be opened as a venue to host events like meetings when it is not in use.

Q. If elected how will you protect Northern Ireland’s CAP reform from a ‘rebalance’ with Scotland?

As one of the few pro-European parties, Alliance believes that it is vitally important that we maintain our membership of the EU to exert influence over decisions such as on CAP, rather than play up the possibility of a referendum that undermines the enormous benefits that we see from Europe.

Q. Where do you stand on the Portora/Collegiate debate in Fermanagh?

We are talking about the two smallest grammar schools in Northern Ireland. They both have fewer than 500 pupils. If they remain separate, it seems unlikely that they will be able to deliver the full curriculum when the entitlement framework kicks in next year.

Q. The elderly appear to be severely disadvantaged in drastic savings measures the Western Trust is having to make. What are your plans to help this particular section of our population?

The Health Department has been given protection in recent budget yet there are large inefficiencies within their budget. If we made the Department more efficient then there would not be as drastic cuts.

Q. Where do you stand on plans to close Enniskillen’s Courthouse?

I am aware that the Justice Minister is in an incredibly difficult position due to the impact of the DUP/Sinn Fein budget that he opposed. I would encourage everyone to take part in the consultation to make their views known.

Q.What’s been your most embarrassing moment to date?

Too embarrassing to say to a newspaper.

Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items could you not live without?

Punjana tea bags, My husband, Running shoes (not in that order!).

Q.Describe a moment in your life that has defined you.

Getting married two months ago.

What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?

Strengths: Good organiser, reliable and gets things done!

Weaknesses: Try to do too much at times!

Finally: Why should anyone vote for you?

Alliance is the only party committed to a shared future. Northern Ireland has always been dominated by green/orange politics. Step forward with Alliance and vote for me.
