POLICE have thanked residents in Derrylin for their “vital” help in foiling a burglary in the area.
Six people were arrested and a quantity of suspected stolen property was seized by the PSNI after a report of burglary at a house in the Teemore Road area last Thursday.
Two vehicles were also seized by officers.
The police had received a report of suspicious activity in the area at just after 10.20pm.
This was confirmed as a burglary on attendance, and local residents subsequently assisted officers in identifying those responsible.
Sergeant Darren Fox said: “All six people were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Two men aged 20 and 18, and two females aged 17 and 16, were later released pending a report being sent to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS). Two men aged 23 and 20 were later released on bail, pending further enquiries.” He added: “I would like to thank the local residents who assisted us with this incident. It was their information that was vital in these arrests happening.”
