AN Enniskillen bar and restaurant has designed a special menu for people with learning difficulties.

Pub manager Steven Curley, who runs The Linen Hall on Townhall Street, was approached by Fresh Focus to design a pictorial menu to assist its members in ordering food.

Fresh Focus brings together people of all ages from the local county, every day, to a venue at the Buttermarket. They take part in activities and tasks, at the day centre, and spend time in town.

Mr. Curley remarked how members of the group have been visiting The Linen Hall for lunch at least twice a week for sometime “but have always ordered exactly the same meal”.

“They are all very capable to be independent, however, some struggle with reading and writing and are not sure about money and change,” he explained.

In response, Mr. Curley and organisers of the group produced an easy-to-use menu with pictures, with choices costing £5 or under, to ease confusion.

“We have included the choices they specifically asked for, such as soup, fish and chips and toasties, as well as healthier options like jacket potatoes and pastas, which is great,” said Mr. Curley.
