Following the decision of the Council at last week’s Council Meeting, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has opened a Book of Condolence for the late Brian Friel.
Friel, who has been described as Ireland’s most important playwright since Samuel Beckett, was born in Omagh and spent the first 10 years of his life in the town. He achieved worldwide fame and acclaim for his many works, and died at his home in Co Donegal on 2 October.
The Book of Condolence for the late Brian Friel will be available for signing by members of the public in the Townhall, Enniskillen, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday, and will remain open until Friday 30 October 2015. A Book of Condolence will also open at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, 10:00 am – 5:30pm, Monday - Saturday.
