Dear Sir, - On Tuesday June 15, I spent a very enjoyable two hours in the Enniskillen library at a book launch of 'Enniskillen in the rare ould times 2' by the Millennium Babes.
The room was packed, Stephen McBride, an able M.C., Mary McNeill gave a short talk on the origins of the book, guest speakers Denzil McDaniel and Colm Bradley were well versed on the topic and very eloquent. We were entertained by musicians Ollie and Malcolm, a slide show by Michael McPhillips and tea and biscuits by Declan and Barry Muldoon - a great night.
I went home with my book thinking, as a 'runner-in' it would not be of as much interest to me as it was to the born and bred locals... how wrong I was. I was riveted. Once I started, I stopped only to sleep, visit the bathroom and eat.
Many of the articles I know and a lot of the characters depicted I had heard about over the years. I want to congratulate all involved in compiling the book and organising the launch, especially 'wee Mary', it is a great credit to all.
There are many other characters I have met and heard of over the past 40 odd years who are not mentioned in Volume's 1 or 2. So hopefully we may read about them in Volume 3.
If you have any family or friends abroad, a copy of this book is certainly an ideal gift, Volume 1 was good, Volume 2 terrific. Again well done to all involved.
Yours faithfully
Patricia O'Connor
(Runner-In)

I have enjoyed a number of books on the Town. I grew up in Water Street so it was a joy to see some of the photos in the book which I have not had time to read yet. Many memories brought back And seeing Sally Quinn especially as we visited her many times when I was growing up.

I have just received my copy of "In the Rare Ould Times 2" from my cousin, Cecil Carson via some friends that were holidaying in N.I. I haven't had much time today to look at it all but in the first story by Patricia Donnelly it mentions the "dignified Misses McCullaghs"(we spelt it that way). They were Eva and Winnie sisters of my late mother Mabel. Just glancing through I saw many names I knew. My cousin was kind enough to have a photo of my Mum and I up the Forthill Park with his father and himself. As I read through I kept thinking of things that I knew, about the Corithian Football team of which my late father, Wm. Connor was involved in along with Enda Love. The B.B. that my father was Captain of for many years. If there is another book following I would love to contribute to it. I may have left Enniskillen years ago but it is still has the most wonderful memories of growing up on Forthill Road. As soon as I received it I was showing my grandson who is a born and bred Aussie, though his claim to fame is actually a direct descendent of Fletcher Christian of the Bounty Fame. I am trying to put together a bit of family history for my grandchildren before I get too old to remember but I am sure my memory will be jolted by reading this wonderful book. Many thanks to those who contributed and have marked down some "history".
Helen Horner, nee Connor, Qld. Australia.
