Delight over decision to keep library hours
Dear Sir, - I, along with the other members of Lisnaskea library campaign group, are delighted that the Minister has provided additional funding thus ensuring that the current hours at Lisnaskea and Irvinestown libraries will remain unchanged.
There was very strong and vocal opposition to the proposal to substantially reduce opening times at both libraries and well done to all those who responded to the consultation. Thanks also to FDC who funded the very detailed community responses which were presented to the Chief Executive Lib NI and the Director of Library Services, Irene Knox and Helen Osborn for consideration by the Board of Libraries NI.
I have been in touch with Irene Knox and have been assured that the additional finance will secure the current opening hours for the next three years. I would hope that, by then, the new library proposed for Main Street, Lisnaskea, will be well advanced.
We are meeting with Libraries NI and the recently appointed Design Team in the near future and are pleased that we will have the opportunity to shape the future of library services in our community.
For those who are not library members, I would encourage you to join your local library, both the young and not so young, and avail of the many services on offer from experienced, and friendly staff. There is something there for everyone.
Yours faithfully,
Ruth Lynch
