Dear Madam, - After several days of illness at home recently I was admitted to SWAH on the recommendation of my GP.
Admitted initially to Ward 1, I was transferred to Ward 8 within hours and spent the next five days there.
May I express through your paper my sincere appreciation and thanks to all the medical and ancillary staff for their care and attention that I received while in the hospital. A special word of thanks must go to the wonderful night and day staff of Ward 8. Nothing was too much bother for them. Where nowadays do you meet with staff, some of whom work 12/14 hour days and at the end of that time still can say “No bother” and say it with a smile.
To all the staff in Wards 1 and 8, I say a big thank you and well done, we should be very grateful and very proud to have such a service available to us.
I have read in the local papers many complaints about SWAH, but reflecting on my time there I can say that I received nothing but the best of care and attention and my experience there was a positive one.
If I did have an adverse comment it would be directed at those responsible for staffing levels. To my untrained eye the staffing levels seem very restricted. Please have a rethink on this. We have a wonderful hospital, let’s keep it this way.
Yours faithfully, Una O’Reilly
