Dear Madam, - It was with sadness that we read recently that Mr Rees, principal of Erne Integrated College, was leaving. It reminded us of back in 2011, when it was also announced that he was leaving Lisnaskea High School. It is only when someone leaves that we realise just how much commitment someone puts into their job, which is sad.

This was the case when Mr Rees left Lisnaskea in 2011. He was fully committed to making the school work, despite small numbers, which is not everything. It is what is offered to those you are there, the opportunities the pupils had, their results they achieved despite some having special needs. The overall educational experience that was there for all, and the atmosphere from teachers, pupils and all concerned that were there, was excellent.

When you have a principal that believes in what he is doing for the whole school family, it shows in them and in the whole school. Having experienced this for myself as a parent when I went to different events in the school, it helps us to know our children were been appreciated and were experiencing a happy place.

I just thought we couldn’t let this opportunity pass, without a big thank you and to just show our appreciation for your commitment to all you believed in as did others. Also to wish you a speedy recovery and a happy future in whatever you do next.

Yours faithfully, A thankful family
