Dear Madam, - As usual I find Denzil McDaniel’s weekly article in the Impartial Reporter very interesting and on the nail!
However, I think he may not be correct in suggesting (IR 30/10/14) that the Southern political establishment are being hypocritical in calling for Unionists to go into coalition with Sinn Fein while balking at the suggestion if applied to themselves.
The reason I say this is because, I believe, for Southern established parties and probably many people in the South, the present day Sinn Fein are seen as a party with roots in Northern Ireland and which has succeeded in gaining power “up there” and now wants to extend into the South; it is viewed as an entity which belongs elsewhere i.e. Northern Ireland.
Yours faithfully, Micheal O’Cathail Address supplied
