Dear Madam, - Through your paper I would like to convey with sadness and disgust, the following events which unfolded in Enniskillen on Halloween night after attending the fireworks display: My wife (who is six months pregnant), our two young children (aged 4 and 2) and I, attended the excellent fireworks display on Friday night at the Lakeland Forum. When the display was over, we returned to our separate cars which were parked in the car park behind Pats Bar, (I was travelling independently due to work commitments). When my wife returned home, she was in somewhat of state, this was really unexpected as we had a great time at the display, including our youngest daughter had been sick of late due to a vomiting bug.

When my wife sat down, she began to describe with shock, the events which unfolded as she was departing the car-park. As she was waiting to leave the car-park, large numbers of vehicles were also trying to access the main thoroughfare. Vehicles entering from a side road were waiting to join the main road and the car in front of my wife let a large number of vehicles ahead from the side road and then progressed towards the lights. As the main carpark again progressed forward (including my wife) a gentleman from an awaiting vehicle queue confronted our car - banged the window forcefully, waving his fist and exclaimed an absolutely disgusting and vile statement, which I could not and will not repeat to protect my wife`s, my children`s and even this gentleman’s decency - in front of our 4 year old, 2 year old and directed at a heavily pregnant woman.

Shame on you Mr important, I hope you feel proud of yourself and trust your wife/partner/children never have the misfortune to meet such a rude gentleman at one of the most vulnerable times in their life, not least on what is supposed to be a family fun night for all.

Yours faithfully “Family time in Fermanagh”
