Dear Madam, - As you may already know on the first Friday of the month, 6 February, we asked people across Northern Ireland to “Wear it. Beat it.” for British Heart Foundation (BHF) Northern Ireland and join us this Heart Month in the fight for every heartbeat.
Did you know that one in four of our loved ones are lost to heart and circulatory disease each year? It is responsible for over 4,100 deaths locally each year, an average of 345 people each month. There are currently 225,000 people in Northern Ireland living with heart and circulatory disease.
Our annual fundraising campaign was an opportunity to urge the country to raise money to continue to fund the vital research needed to fight heart disease. We were not disappointed- we saw people across Fermanagh fundraise by wearing red and hosting a red themed event in support of us.
We are hugely grateful for the funds raised so far, which will go towards supporting the thousands of local people living with coronary heart disease.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind those who got involved with ‘Wear it. Beat it.’ to pay in the money they raised. Every penny raised makes a huge difference.
With this in mind, we wanted to let your readers know that there is still time to get involved with ‘Wear it. Beat it.’, readers can simply text RED to 70060 to donate £3 for the BHF Northern Ireland’s lifesaving research.
For more information about ‘Wear it. Beat it.’ and to register for next year’s event or donate please visit bhf.org.uk/red.
Yours faithfully, Gary Wilson Fundraising Volunteer Manager British Heart Foundation
