DEAR MADAM - I felt the need to write in after the treatment of the staff of Devenish College. Redundancies galore seem to be the way in the school at the moment.

But what I would like to know is - who makes these massive life-changing decisions?

Obviously not anyone who has a clue what is really going on in the school or what the school needs for the well being of the current pupils and those future pupils.

I for one, as a past pupil of Devenish College, was shocked to hear of the redundancies of highly qualified teachers who have given their all to the pupils and life of the school for numerous years. To them teaching was their life and they worked hard to make the school as successful as it has been to date. What gratitude do they get after years of hard work and dedication? To be made redundant.

I personally believe staff, pupils and parents in the school should be informed of how exactly these unfair, selfish decisions were reached and how the irreplaceable teachers made redundant were selected.

Devenish College in recent years has received one knock after another and not once did the staff let the pupils suffer or let it affect the education they received. They always got on selflessly with whatever was thrown at them.

It is just a pity those who handed out the redundancies were not as considerate.

Yours faithfully, PAST PUPIL AND HEAD GIRL OF DEVENISH COLLEGE DEAR MADAM - I felt the need to write in after the treatment of the staff of Devenish College. Redundancies galore seem to be the way in the school at the moment.
