Dear Sir- I note and thank Mrs Storey for her letter in your paper last week about the ongoing problem of bus stops in Lisbellaw village and those adjacent to the A4 at the Lisbellaw bypass.
As Mrs Storey indicated, this matter has been ongoing for a considerable length of time. I was pleased that some time ago Translink agreed to put the local bus service back through the village and leave the bus stop more convenient for most users. However, there is a clear difficulty with the Belfast bus going through the village due to congestion issues on occasions. I have again held discussions with representatives of Translink and Roads Service this week and have discussed options of removing the bus stops away from the main road and relocating them to an appropriate place in the village.
I feel it is important at this time of economic difficulties that we have the trader's views to ensure that they aren't disadvantaged. Obviously I am keen to have a resolution that results with safe bus stops and easily accessible use of the village. I look forward to further discussion and action being taken as soon as possible so that everyone in the village of Lisbellaw can benefit from a safer and more convenient bus service.
Yours faithfully,
Councillor
Tom Elliott MLA

Leave the stops on the main road as the journey to Belfast is long enough without going through every little hole in the hedge to collect people that are otherwise to lazy to walk a few feet to the bus stop. If people need to go to Lisbelaw then catch the town service and not the so called Belfast express. This would leave a more efficient and faster journey to Belfast without a guided tour of the countryside.

it is not just the walk to the bus stop - which by the way is over a mile away- it is the fact that there is no lighting on this stretch of road and should never have been passed as a bus stop. this is sometimes the only bus that children staying after school have to get home on and is dangerous as it is placed on a main road

if people in lisbellaw would learn how to park properly there would be no problem. as for as walking a mile the people of enniskillen have to walk a lot further and cross many roads to get the 261, if your village idots that have caused this would even walk 20 feet to the shops from the side roads it would be a help. the 95 service should also be taken out.
