Daniel Noble grabbed four goals as Irvinestown Wanderers set aside their league problems to cruise through to the next round of the Coca-Cola Junior Cup on Saturday.

This was a contest that was done and dusted by half time with the home side five goals to the good and they went on to add another before half time to ease to a 6-0 victory.

Wanderers manager Gerry Love admitted that the opposition was not the toughest but he was glad to have registered a win aftyer losing their opening four league games.

"They weren't the greatest side but it was pleasing to get the win. It was also good to have scored a few goals and to have kept a clean-sheet," commented Love.

Irvinestown enjoyed the better of things from the off and with 15 minutes on the clock they took the lead with Noble netting his first of the day. He was put through by strike partner Gary Maguire and produced a good finish for 1-0.

The Upperlands goalkeeper was to pull off a string of fine stops over the course of the game as he prevented an even bigger defeat for his side but Noble did go on to account for his side's second before the same player then completed his hat-trick. Ronan Ormsby, Conotr McGuigan and Maguire were all involved in creating the chance for Noble who sidefooted to the roof of the net. Wanderers continued to press and Ormsby made it 4-0 as he clipped a quickly taken 35 yard free kick into the back of the net, the goalkeeper getting a hand to it but was unable to keep it out.

And as half time approached, Noble slotted home his fourth, and Irvinestown's fifth to leave it 5-0 at the break.

Love made a couple of changes at the break and the second half was to prove to be a more subdued affair. However, the visitors never threatened the Wanderers goal and indeed it was the home outfit who went on to increase their advantage as Noble fired over a great cross that was met by McGuigan who steered home a powerful header from eight yards out to leave it 6-0 at the final whistle.
