It's time for the talking to stop and the action to begin with the much anticipated Brewster Brawl to take place this Saturday night in a state of the art marquee at Brewster Park.

There has been plenty said by some of the participants over the last couple of weeks in the lead up to fight night but when the bell rings on Saturday night it will be time to walk the walk in front of what will be expected to be a large crowd of eager supporters!

Saturday night's boxing event is the centre piece of a jam packed four days of activities that make up the Fermanagh Senior Football Team Fundraising weekend.

The night's action will get underway with Fermanagh PRO Johnny McManus stepping into the ring to face Jamie Curran in a Light Middleweight contest and will conclude with a battle of the Super-Heavyweights as midfielders Marty McGrath and Ryan Jones square up.

And in between there are a number of mouthwatering contests that should have the crowd on their feet.

"There has been some trash talked over the last couple of weeks although unusually for boxers some of boys have been talking down their chances," said Fermanagh captain Ryan 'The Show Boat' McCluskey. "You hear boys saying that they are no good and they are going to get knocked out but then the likes of Tom Brewster, Shane McCabe and Johnny McManus have been slipping away off and getting private coaching!" You can be sure that the place will erupt if Shane 'Pretty Boy' McCabe was to hit the canvas when he comes up against Kevin 'Fatty' Martin but it's equally as certain that McCabe would really enjoy having his hand raised at the end of the bout.

And staying off the canvas is everybody's target according to McCluskey, who will come up against Chris 'The Ice Man' Snow on the night.

"Come fight night there will be pride at stake, especially in front of so many people, and the boys will be looking, first and foremost, not to get knocked out, to put in a performance and if possible win their respective bout. I don't think that anybody minds tasting blood on the night but you certainly don't want to be tasting the floor," he laughed.

On a serious note, McCluskey was full of praise for those who are taking part in the ring.

"It has been hard work and everybody who is getting in the ring deserves great praise. It could be a lonely place when you step into the ring on Saturday night, it is fight or flight. The boys have given up their free time to do the training and take part and those guests and former players especially deserve credit," he added.

The defender also hopes that the weekend proves to be a success.

"We hope that people come along and that it is a successful weekend. It is not just about the fundraising, it is also about pulling everybody - the players, management, county board and supporters - altogether. And we would hope that supporters will get behind us on the pitch as well as the support is very important especially going into a tough season."
