The Erne Boxing Club had another busy weekend of boxing competing in Duleek, Co Louth and Foxford, Co Mayo and put in some notable performances and achieved great success from boxing siblings Kaci and Harris Crowley.

Harris Crowley got the weekend's action underway in Duleek with a come-from-behind victory over the skillful Liam Kearns (Monkstown BC) in the quarter-finals of B2 (Under 13's) 39kgs class in the Louth Open championships.

Dublin southpaw Kearns won the opening round with his high workrate and hit and move tactics. The second round was very close but Crowley landed the most telling punch to edge the round. In the final session Crowley produced the strong finish to bloody his opponent's nose and landed with several clubbing right hooks to take victory in a very close contest by split decision.

Harris Crowley was first in action on Sunday again in Duleek against Ronan O'Reilly (St John Bosco BC) in the semifinal. O'Reilly stormed out from the opening bell and had Crowley under immediate pressure to get the better of the early running.

In the second half of the contest Crowley took over, landing the cleaner to take the second session before producing a great display of boxing in the final stanza to win a unanimous points decision and book his place in next weekend's final.

In Foxford, Co Mayo on Sunday the Erne Boxing Club also had Kaci Crowley and Aaron Burns competing for the Tyrone & Fermanagh County Board team in an Inter County match against the County Mayo counterparts.

Kaci Crowley faced a stiff test as she was pitted against last season's National Championship Quarterfinalist Rose McDonagh (Ballina BC). Despite conceding age and experience the Erne favourite boxed with composure to edge the opener and after dropping the second round she responded with a great performance in the final round to deservedly collect a unanimous points decision and record her third successive win of the season.

Aaron Burns once again put in a great performance and boxed exceptionally well against Oisin Browne (Ardnaree BC) but somehow was adjudged to have lost by a split decision.

Burns started slowly and was caught with some good shots early on but the more the contest progressed the more he warmed to the task and took over.

Burns put in a strong finish and forced his opponent to take a standing count and many at ringside felt he had done more than enough to secure victory but the decision strangely went against him.

Erne Boxing Club Coach Sean Crowley commented, "Despite not getting the decision Aaron Burns can be proud of his performance. This weekend's success has been a great team effort. Greg Copeland took the reigns for Harris's semifinals contest and steered him to victory and Jim Toye did a great job in Foxford masterminding Kaci's win and was very unfortunate not to be returning with a win double when the split decision went against Aaron."

The Erne Boxing Club advise that they will be targeting six Gold medals in next weekend's Louth Open championships finals having been assured of three titles already.

Linda Greene Girl 3 (Under 14's) 31kgs, John Stokes Boy 3 (Under 14's) 33kgs and Mark Monaghan Boy 4 (Under 15's) 57kgs have all claimed titles by way of walkover as there are no opponents in their respective categories.

Kaci Crowley Girl 1 (Under 12's) 42kgs, Lena Fox Girl 3 (Under 14's) 46kgs and Harris Crowley Boy 2 (Under 12's) 39kgs will all box in their respective finals in Dundalk, Co Louth next Sunday.
