Portora Boat Club which has been setting new records on Irish Rowing waters in recent years are set to break further new ground in 2015 when the Parent Support Group organises its first Gala Ball.

As such then, the rowers will be swapping their one pieces for their black ties and flowing gowns on Saturday, September 3 at Lough Erne Golf Resort for a night of fun and friendship with top band Power Struggle performing on the night.

In recent years the club has gone from strength to strength.

Both boys and girls from a number of Enniskillen schools come together rain hail or shine to the arduous training sessions up to eight times per week.

That hard work coupled with top class coaching has brought handsome reward at the very top level of rowing in Ireland as characterised by a plethora of gold, silver and bronze medals at the Irish Rowing Championships in recent years and the title of top junior club in Ireland.

Add in an appearance at Royal Henley for MJ18 8 last year, Ladies Henley and a series of representative appearances for a number of male and female rowers and it is clear the standards to which the young rowers compete year in year out.

Moreover, some past members are currently representing Ireland and GBR in European and World Championships.

In addition, in 2013 with the opening of the new Northridge Boat House, the club has also provided facilities which are the envy of all boat clubs throughout Ireland.

Hence, it is amid this background that the decision to host a Gala Ball was taken by the Parent Support Group so that all members through the years can come together at the Gala Ball to be recognised and their achievements celebrated together.

Tickets can be purchased from Portora Royal School or during Saturday training from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Boat Club by arrangement, reservations can be made at pbcpsg@hotmail.co.uk.
