19-year-old Ruari McCaffrey from Trillick had the best possible start to his 2016 rally season at the Donegal Mini Stages Rally on Saturday.
The young talent is entering only his second full rally season and embarking on the Border Rally Championship. With no prior testing, the Mini Stages was the ideal opportunity to test the Honda Civic’s recently fitted DMS suspension and new set up from McConnell Motorsport.
Having secured new sponsors for the 2016 season, the team of Ruari and navigator Seamus McTigue battled the slippy and wintery conditions on the event to take the Class 1 outright win and 36th overall on their first rally of the year.
Here’s wishing Ruari “many more flying results” from McConnell Motorsport and McCaffrey Rallying. Ruari would like to thank sponsors, Molly’s Bar and Parlour Restaurant Irvinestown, MJ Prestige Car Sales Ltd and Goan Meats, Lisnaskea.
