Enniskillen and Clogher Valley will be going in search of a place in the Powerade Towns’ Cup semi-final this weekend with both sides having home advantage in their respective ties on Saturday.
An in form Enniskillen host Ballynahinch 2nd XV at Mullaghmeen and coach Norman Richmond says that they will be targeting a win and a place in the last four of the competition.
“We are looking forward to the game. When you set your goals at the start of the season, the Towns’ Cup is always among them and we want to go on and progress in the competition,” he said.
Ballynahinch have recorded comfortable wins over Ards and Carrickfergus to make it through to the last eight but Richmond feels that having the game at Mullaghmeen gives his side a good advantage going into the encounter.
“Home advantage is essential, especially against the likes of Ballynahinch and we also have a strong record at home this year which is good,” he added.
Richmond stresses though that the priority for his side remains the league.
“You want to do well in the Towns’ Cup and our focus is on this game but our priority is the league and trying to get promotion,” he added.
Clogher coach Davy Black expects a tough encounter when his side take on Portadown at the Cran on Saturday.
“Portadown lost to Omagh last Saturday but on their day they are a very strong side and always have good players.
"We’re expecting a tough game from them and it is going to take a massive effort from us to get over the line and into the semi-finals,” he said.
Valley go into the game on the back of a couple of good wins over Armagh 2nd XV and Blallyclare and Black feels they showing improvement all the time.
“You can see the improvement in them over the last couple of weeks with the wins over Armagh and Ballyclare and you can also see it in training so we are happy with how things are going.
"Everybody also came through the Ballyclare game so we should have a full strength hand to select from on Saturday,” he stated.
