Dergview Reserves 1 Enniskillen Rangers 3

Enniskillen Rangers dispatched Dergview Reserves to book their place in the semi-final of the Impartial Reporter Mulhern Cup with a 3-1 win at Darragh Park on Saturday.
Goals from Johnny Turley, Andy Johnston and Joe Doogan were enough to get them past first division struggles Dergview Reserves, and they will now face Lisbellaw United with a place in the cup final at stake.
Despite reaching the last four for the first time in five years, manager Michael Kerr is looking to go further.
“We are delighted to get there and it’s going to be a big occasion but our target wasn’t to get to the semi-final, we want to win the trophy,” he said.
“Lisbellaw are a good side with plenty of experience. They have played semi-finals before where we have only a couple who have done that, but our confidence is really high and we don’t want the run to end.”
Rangers went into the quarter final as firm favourites and despite Dergview making them work hard, the result rarely looked in doubt once the Enniskillen side took the lead.
“I was satisfied with how we played,” said the 'Gers boss.
“We gave away a silly goal which was a slight lapse of concentration but we are in the semi so I can’t be too harsh on them.
"3-1 was a good enough result but there were things to work on and the finishing could have been better.
"Over the 90 minutes we created good chances and took three of them and got into the semi-final.”
Rangers made the brighter start with the first chance of the game falling to James Turley, who after jinking past a few players in the box saw his tame effort saved by the keeper.
Burleigh then headed over from a Turley cross, Holden had a shot fly wide of the post and player manager Kerr had a free kick saved.
The pressure eventually paid off in the 25th minute when a corner swung in by Kerr was only half-dealt with by the Dergview defence and the ball fell to Johnny Turley who hit a low drive into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
Before the break Rangers had a great chance to double their advantage when Johnston ran on to a through ball from Holden, but the keeper raced out from his line to make the save that kept Dergview in touch.
Rangers grabbed a decisive second goal just two minutes into the second half.
Pressure from Turley saw the Dergview defender head the ball weakly back towards his goalkeeper.
Johnston pounced on the ball and got a shot away that the keeper failed to stop crossing the line.
Johnston then had a shot tipped around the post, and from Kerr’s corner Doogan fired past the keeper.
Dergview did manage a response 15 minutes from time when a free-kick was launched forward from near the halfway line and after a mix up in the Rangers defence, the ball was turned into the net.
This though was merely a consolation goal for the Castlederg side as Rangers progressed through to the last four of the competition and meeting with Lisbellaw United.
