Lisbellaw United 3 Enniskillen Town United 3

A late Enniskillen Town equaliser from Ciaran Brough saw Lisbellaw drop two points in their quest for the league title. 2-1 down at half time, the home team looked to have secured all three points with two second half goals but they were denied maximum points by a late leveller. Despite the draw the outcome of the title race remains firmly in their own hands, as they have two games in hand on challengers Strathroy and only trail their Tyrone rivals by four points.
Enniskillen Town have little to play for and are set for a mid table finish but they put in a performance that pleased their manager Rory Judge, who felt they might have got more than a single point from the match.
“We played very well,” he said. “We needed an equaliser in the last few minutes to snatch a draw but it was certainly well deserved. We were well worth our half time lead, but they came out in the second half and threw everything at us. I thought it was a very nervous performance from Lisbellaw and a draw was the least we deserved. It was very satisfying from our point of view. We are a bit disappointed in the changing room, because that is the standard we need to win the league and for large parts we played around them. They are very good at playing to their strengths and they are able to get a draw when maybe they didn’t deserve it.”
After an evenly contested opening to the match it was Town who took the lead midway through the first half. Conor Tummon created space for a cross and Lisbellaw’s attempted clearance fell to Brendan Lilley, who fired into the corner of the net through a crowd of players. Town’s lead lasted for less than ten minutes, with Lisbellaw grabbing an equaliser when Town keeper Nigel O’Connor clawed away a header from a corner, but the referee ruled the ball had crossed the line.
Five minutes before the interval Town regained the lead when Malcolm Crawford side footed a cross past the keeper at the back post.
Lisbellaw came out for the second half determined to overturn their deficit and their pressure was rewarded when Gareth Carrothers headed in a corner. Boosted by the goal they continued to press in search of a winning goal, and it looked as though they were destined to take all three points when Paul McGrath tucked away a loose ball after Nigel O’Connor had saved a shot.
Town did not panic however and with two minutes of the ninety remaining, Ciaran Brough ran on to a Wallace pass and stabbed past the keeper to earn a draw.
