Roslea Shamrocks 4-14 Belcoo O'Rahillys 1-07

Roslea proved too strong for Belcoo on Sunday afternoon as they inflicted a third straight defeat upon the visitors, meaning Belcoo now prop up the table after four games.
The Shamrocks raced into a 1-05 to no score lead after only 15 minutes played. Indeed, the game was only three minutes old when the home side netted their first goal. Seamus Quigley got on the end of a long ball in and he beat James McGrath in the Belcoo nets, for the opening score of the game.
Sean Quigley was on form with his frees, landing three from the ground before he lofted over a superb score with the outside of his boot, to leave it 1-04 to no score. Daniel Mohan made it 1-05 before Belcoo managed to raise a flag.
A long ball in by Jonathan Feeley fortuitously bounced over the bar to open Belcoo’s account. This was followed by a well taken goal from Matthew McAloon who made a darting run from the wing before blasting to the net, to reduce the deficit to four points. Feeley made it a three point game as he chipped over with a score but that was to be Belcoo’s most dominant period in the match. Roslea exerted more pressure, drawing frees which Sean Quigley knocked over at ease. Shane Lynch broke through for Roslea’s second goal and although Ciaran Flaherty managed a point for Belcoo, they trailed 2-09 to 1-03 at the break.
In the second half, Roslea continued to have the upper hand. Shane Lynch got his second goal from close range after some good play from Seamus Quigley and Conor Mulligan. Gerard Sherlock got the fourth goal while Sean and Seamus Quigley kept the score board ticking.
Belcoo’s four second half points came from Aaron Dolan, Jonathan Feeley (2) and Gavin Leonard but it was mere consolation in a game which the home side controlled from start to finish.
Roslea manager, Brian Gormley was content with the result: “Bits of our play was good and bits of it was not so good. The game was really won in the first 15 minutes. We started very well and then tailed off a bit before finishing the first half very strongly.”
Roslea will play Teemore tomorrow evening (Friday) and Gormley is hoping to continue winning ways.
“We will be looking to build on the last few performances. Teemore will be tough and they are never easy to beat in Teemore.”
