Enniskillen 8-11 Derrygonnelly 5-05

A powerful last quarter saw Enniskillen Gaels surge to victory in this under 14 league final against a brave Derrygonnelly Harps.
In the end it was the superior fire power and forward play of the Gaels that was the difference between the sides as they outscored the opposition 5-06 to 2-01 in the final 15 minutes.
Enniskillen Gaels mentor, Fiacre O’Donnell was delighted with the win;
“This group have been together for a number of years now and you can really see the improvement in them over that time. They work very hard on the skills and it was a real team effort and we are delighted with the win over a good Derrygonnelly side.”
The winners enjoyed a blistering start to proceedings and hit the first four scores of the game to go 2-02 to no score ahead. Ryan McGandy and Oliver Hughes Jordan were on target with the goals during this spell.
Derrygonnelly though came right back hand they were to hold the upper hand as the half time whistle drew closer and Michael Glynn and John Duffy both worked their way through for goals.
Conor Murphy glided over a free just before the break for Enniskillen and that score gave the county town side the slimmest of leads entering the second half.
It looked like Enniskillen might go on and dominate when the action resumed as the tricky Ryan McDonnell shot to the net but the Harps were in no mood for throwing the towel in and thanks to an Eoin Magee goal and points from Glynn and Ronan McGovern the Derrygonnelly lads went ahead by a point.
This momentary surrender of the lead seemed to kick the Gaels into a higher gear and they went on a five goal rampage that the Harps defence simply could not counter.
Substitute Josh Horan was the first to raise the green flag before Fergal Quinn, Jordan Slevin with two goals and Shay Conway all got in on the act.
Derrygonnelly were understandably stunned by this match winning blitz but they are to be credited for securing the last two goals of the game through Glynn and Rhys Campbell.
Both teams deserve plaudits for what was a very open and entertaining game of football with a number of players on both sides standing out.
Aaron Jones and Conor McGovern were impressive in the Harps defence with Glynn, McGovern and John Duffy all playing well further up field.
For the winners Jamie McArdle was in imperious form at full back while Callum Dunne and James O’Donnell got through a lot of hard work to compliment the array of goal scoring power the Gaels had on show.
