Fermanagh Milk Cup Premier team manager Darren Higginbotham has praised his young players for their efforts throughout the course of the Super Cup,
Indeed, he feels if they had enjoyed a bit more luck, they would have got results against two of the best teams in the competition, Newcastle United and Right To Dream.
Darren explained: “To be honest, if you had said at the start of the week, that we would have left the pitch after the Newcastle and Right to Dream games totally disappointed not to get at least a draw in those games, then I would have taken that.
“They are two of the biggest teams in the competition and it was incredibly tough on the boys not to get anything out of these two games. Their attitude and commitment was great throughout and I was delighted for the boys when they got the win at the end of the week. They deserved that.”
Darren added: “The whole experience was a very positive one, the boys bought into what we were trying to achieve and overall the performances were good. The Tyrone game on the Tuesday was disappointing but they boys picked themselves up and played really well against Right to Dream who won the Junior Section last year.”
Darren says the experience has only whetted his appetite for more.
“From a personal point of view, I really enjoyed it and it is definitely something I would like to experience again and management is something that appeals to me when I finish playing.”
He also hopes the young players now go on and progress further.
“I hope the boys now realise that they can compete at the very highest level and progress with their clubs, get into their first teams and make massive contributions on the pitch,” he concluded.
The  Premier team finished the second half of their Super Cup with a narrow defeat to fancied Right to Dream, a draw with MS Select and a win over Otago.
In their final game,  Jacob Britton set them on their way with another successful penalty in the first half and when Ronan Beattie pounced to score five minutes before time to look to have sealed the win.
However, Otago replied immediately and then pushed hard in the final minutes for an equaliser but the Fermanagh team held out for a deserved win to end the week on a high.
The day before that Fermanagh Premiers kept their first clean sheet and got their first point of Super Cup NI with a draw against MS Select at the Riada Stadium (2) Ballymoney.
Fermanagh created lots of chances and even had a goal disallowed but despite efforts from Brandon Horan and Johnny Cassidy late on, they could not get a goal to break the deadlock.
One of their best performances of the week came against Right to Dream, last Wednesday.
The Ghanains had won the Junior section but the Fermanagh team were gutted to come away following a narrow 2-1 defeat.
Right to Dream took the lead early on and Warrington then went close for Fermanagh but headed just wide.
Right to Dream doubled the lead 51 minutes into the game before Fermanagh were handed a lifeline.
A foul in the penalty area saw the referee point to the spot. Jacob Britton stepped up to fire beyond the goalkeeper and into the left of the goal for his second goal of the tournament at that stage.
Fermanagh showed tremendous commitment throughout and Jake Irvine worked incredibly hard in midfield once again, but the chances never came and the Ghanaians held on for the win despite a superb effort from the Fermanagh Super Cup Premier lads.
