Enniskillen Town 3 Beragh Swifts 2

Ciaran Brough struck in injury time to make it two wins out of two for Enniskillen Town as they saw off Beragh Swifts at the Lakeland Forum on Saturday.
Town had appeared to be cruising as they took a two goal lead only to be pegged back to 2-2 with 20 minutes to go.
However, the home side’s character pleased manager Rory Judge as they responded with Brough’s late goal to seal the points.
“It was a good three points for us,” said Judge. “Much like our first game against Tummery we got ourselves into a winning position only to look as if we had thrown it away but the boys showed great resolve and character to go on and win the game. I think that those may have been games that we would have lost last season.”
Beragh had went close to opening the scoring early on when they hit the woodwork with a speculative effort but Town soon began to get to grips with matters and they went on to take the lead in the 25th minute. Mark Little got down the left hand side and pulled the ball back for Frank Wallace who fired to the roof of the net.
The home side then had a great chance to double their advantage when they were awarded a penalty but Stevie Chambers failed to convert while Little got through one-on-one but but he shot wide with just the goalkeeper to beat.
Town continued to have the better of the exchanges at the start of the second half and they bagged their second goal of the game in the 55th minute. Gary Stewart and Brendan Lilley combined before Lilley slipped in Little and he tucked the ball home for 2-0.
At this stage Town looked to be in total control but Beragh were given a lifeline when Jason Armstrong’s first time effort flew beyond Town keeper Matty McGrade to the back of the net for 2-1.
And it was level with 20 minutes to go as a mix up at the back resulted in Sean Hynes putting the ball into his own net for 2-2.
For a five minute period after this Beragh looked the more likely side to go on and secure the win but the home team settled back to the task in the latter stages of the contest.
And with 91 minutes on the clock Brough grabbed what proved to the winner, the substitute slotting home from close to maintain Town’s fine start to the new season.
