Having only secured one point from the their opening 11 games, NFC Kesh have now made it six points from their last three games as Nial Amos’s charges look to perfect an unlikely great escape.
Indeed, this was a proverbial six pointer with struggling Santos on a terrible run and right in the relegation mix having played more games than everyone else.
Kesh boss Amos was delighted to get the points to add some respectability to their points tally in the first instance.
He revealed: “That is six points out of the last nine and I suppose it takes the bad look of the table. We have to play all the teams around us and we know what we have to do, so Saturday was a good start and you can see a bit of confidence from the recent wins coming into our play which is encouraging.
After an even opening, Kesh took the lead in the 16th minute when Lee Walker’s cross into the box flicked off a Santos head and into the path of Jordan Woods who headed home for 1-0.
Kesh could have added to their tally before the break but the woodwork came to the rescue of Santos as first Gareth Keys went through one on one but hit the frame of the goal and then Walker’s free kick from out wide on the right struck the upright.
On the restart, Kesh went two up within ten minutes as Mark Jones fired to the roof of the net from inside the box.
With 20 to go, it was 3-0 as former Ballinamallard star Nigel Beacom hit a cracking shot in the top corner from 25 yards.
Santos in fairness did not lie down and Rory Maguire had to produce two good saves to maintain their clean sheet before Kesh sealed the win as Jones got his second of the game as latched on to an Aaron Graham pass for 4-0.
The final whistle sounded soon after as Kesh’s unlikely escape gathered even more momentum.
