Tummery Athletic 4 Enniskillen Rangers 0 Enniskillen Rangers boss Michael Kerr says that they will put back to back league defeats behind them and focus on trying to get through to the last four of the Junior Cup when they host Lower Shankill at the Ball Range this Saturday.

Derby defeat to Enniskillen Town was followed by a 4-0 loss away to Tummery on Saturday although Kerr clearly had one eye on the Junior Cup, making eight changes for the trip to Dromore.

Still, he was disappointed with the defeat and is concerned that they have not been taking their chances.

“We made a lot of changes but still it is disappointing to have lost a second game in a row.

“We had chances in the first half and we didn’t take them and then we made mistakes in the second half and we were punished for those. However, we’ll just move on from this game and we’ll concentrate fully on the Junior this week.

“We’re expecting a tough game, there are no bad teams at this stage of the competition, but we have a home draw which is what we wanted and we have a good record at home. I know that the boys will be up for this and for some this is going to be the biggest game that they haver played for the club,” he commented.

Saturday’s game was decided in the 15 minutes after half time as Tummery plundered three goals without reply to turn a previously even encounter into a one sided game.

This was in much contrast to the opening 45 minutes as two much changed teams went hammer and tong in search of the lead.

Rangers had the clearest chances in the opening half as Adam Wallace played Ollie Russell in on goal but he shot over the bar with only the Tummery keeper Christopher Catterson to beat.

Then it was Lee Glass’s turn to race clear but Catterson saved easily as Glass tried to find the corner of the net.

Glass then headed over when a free kick into the box rebounded into his path.

It was not all one way traffic with Tummery creating their own chances but unable to get past Jerome Carleton.

Declan McNulty fired in some good crosses with his left foot and Niall Donnelly headed wide with a good chance before the diminutive forward turned provider for Colm McCullagh whose shot was turned around for a corner by Carleton.

Paul McHugh then had a swerving shot punched clear by Carleton while at the other end Adam Wallace’s pile driver took a deflection as it flew just past the post as the half time whistle sounded.

Matters changed quickly at the start of the second half as Joe Doogan’s attempted clearance was blocked and fell into the path of Donnelly who slotted home from six yards.

It was 2-0 soon after as hesitancy in the Rangers defence allowed Ryan Goulding to break into the box on the right side and fire low past Carleton.

Goulding then turned provider when he again capitalised on some poor defending to run into the box and pull ball back for Donnelly whose attempted back heel ricocheted off the the keeper and back onto Donnelly before going into the net.

The ‘Gers did introduce leading scorer Mark Cutler and he made a bit of impact having a shot saved before Tummery made it 4-0 when Declan Quinn turned the ball home to seal the points for the Dromore men.
