In another exciting night of top quality swimming at the Forum, Enniskillen Lakelanders came out ahead of Alliance Swimming Club, Belfast.

There were personal best times from many Lakelanders as well as the fastest ever Aquasprint time in the Medley Relay, the fourth race of the evening, by Jake Cadden, Molly Johnston, Ellie McCartney and Louie Burns which got things off to a fantastic start.

The night’s events continued with backstroke and wins for Niamh O’Donnell, Jamie Lannon and Abigail Boyd followed by PBs for Isobel Lannon (breaking 19 seconds for the first time), Ela Winters, Ella O’Donnell and Matthew Dolan.

There were further wins for Patrick Williams, Ellie McCartney and Jake Cadden, who recorded the fastest backstroke of the night.

These strong results helped Lakelanders edge ahead of Alliance to take an early lead in the overall scores.

In the Breaststroke, there were victories for Oliver Mooney, closely followed by Tom Buchanan, who shaved a second off his PB as well as victories for Abigail Boyd, Annabel Morris, Callum O’Hare and Ellie McCartney (who was fastest overall by a four second margin). This was followed by a terrific PB win for Jake Cadden to complete this section and reach the half-way stage with Lakelanders ahead by 115 points to Alliance on 85.

The evening’s competition continued with butterfly stroke with victories for Jamie Lannon (with a PB by 3.5 seconds), Abigail Boyd, Annabel Morrison, Ellie McCartney and Jake Cadden leaving the Lakelanders with an unassailable 36 point margin at this stage of the competition.

Front crawl was next with wins for Jamie Lannon, Abigail Boyd, Isobel Lannon (breaking 16 seconds for the first time) and Patrick Williams, Ellie McCartney and Jake Cadden recording the fastest swim of the night.

Finally, it was the freestyle relay events to end the night with victories for Anna McDade, Callum O’Hare, Patrick Williams and Isobel Lannon as well as Ciosa McConnell, Matthew Dolan, Jake Cadden and Ellie McCartney.

The captains, Ellie McCartney and Jake Cadden, led from the front unbeaten in both individual events and relays.

It was great to have so many new volunteers helping and Coaches Fionna and Rob overseeing proceedings.

With just one Forest Feast AquaSprint left on May 20 away against the league leaders, Lurgan, the focus must be on stroke development for the team before thinking about the final on Friday June 2.
