Roslea 3-12 Lisnaskea 1-13 Roslea ran out deserved five point winners with their ability to plunder goals the difference between the sides on Sunday afternoon.

The Shamrocks were two points ahead at the break with two second half goals proving the vital scores.

Brendan Sherlock was their goal scorer in the first half with Ciaran Cassidy notching their second and Conor Keenan putting the game beyond doubt with his side’s third goal.

The win was achieved without the three Quigley brothers with Sean ruled out due to his involvement with the county and Seamus and Conor both absent although the latter is expected to return this week.

“It is good to get the win and it moves us up the league. We were a bit to near the bottom for our liking so we are moving in the right direction which is the main thing,” Roslea boss Brian Gormley stated after the game.

“The games will come thick and fast now and hopefully we get a few more men back from injury in the coming weeks.”

The Emmetts were well in the game at the break and the encounter was evenly contested throughout the first half with Daniel Kille and Sean Keenan both dangerous in attack.

The latter was returning to the side following an injury lay off and he helped sharpen the visitors forward line.

James McMahon was impressive for Roslea in the middle of the field and he knocked over a number of first half points with Michael Jordan, Ciaran Lynam and Shane McMahon also on target for the home side.

Roslea moved three ahead early in the second half but Lisnaskea did have a chance to square things up but Daniel Kille saw his shot come back off the crossbar.

Roslea were much more clinical at the other end however and Cassidy swooped for their second goal to take the Shamrocks into a six point lead.

The Emmetts didn’t throw the towel in however and the impressive Ryan Moran strode froward from wing half back to hammer home their only goal of the game.

That green flag halved the deficit but any hopes of a comeback was snuffed out with a James McMahon brace and the third goal of the day for the home side with Conor Keenan finding the net with aplomb.

Kenny Kearns kept the fight going at the far end in and he notched two scores in the second half but all in all this will be a disappointing day out for Lisnaskea.

For Roslea Ciaran Lynam was impressive in defence while further up-field James McMahon, Niall Cassidy and Brendan Sherlock all caught the eye.

The win pushes Roslea up to fifth in the table and a point ahead of Lisnaskea.

This weekend Roslea will travel to Teemore and will hope to continue to climb the table in the battle of the Shamrocks while Lisnaskea will welcome Ederney to Emmett Park.
