Teemore 0-07 Roslea 1-19 In this battle of the Shamrocks it was Roslea who would emerge as clear cut winners thanks to a particularly dominant second half display where they outscored Teemore 1-09 to 0-02.

It has been a chastening few weeks for Teemore who occupy one of the two relegation spots alongside Belcoo.

For Roslea they have now made it two wins from two and have climbed back up the table to fourth spot. Sean Quigley was in imperious form for the winners with his free taking in particular of impeccable quality throughout.

He raised seven white flags in the first half with Shane McMahon among the other scorers as Roslea took a 0-10 to 0-05 lead into the break.

Teemore did have a chance of a goal in that opening period but Ruairi Maguire saw his shot hammer off the crossbar. Maguire did score a point in that first half with Damien Lee and Liam Martin also contributing. The home side lost the services of both Jason McCaffrey and Mark Donoghue. McCaffrey was playing well in the middle of the field and Donoghue was a source of physical strength in the full back line and their combined loss was difficult for Teemore to overcome when play resumed for the second half.

The second period was a completely one sided affair with Roslea taking control all over the pitch and in the end they were good value for their win. The only goal of the game came in that second half with Shane McMahon getting on the end of a flowing move involving Conor Quigley and James McMahon to finish well. Sean Quigley had contributed to the score too with an unselfish decoy run to allow McMahon a clear path to goal.

John Fitzpatrick was the biggest threat in attack for Teemore in the second half and he scored both of his side’s points. At the other end Roslea had a very decent spread of scorers with Peter Lynch, Niall Beggan, Niall Cosgrove and Dermot Reilly all getting on the scoreboard.

After the game their manager Brian Gormley wasn’t getting carried away with the victory however; “We played some good football and it was a particularly good move for the goal but there is no point in reading too much into things either. There are more games coming up now and we just have to keep going,” he explained.

For his opposite number, Tommy Clarke, it has been a hard couple of weeks; “It was a tough day and it’s just been very difficult this last while and we have Irvinestown this weekend and they gave us a bit of a trimming earlier on in the league so all we can do is look to improve going forward,” he stated before adding; “But having said that a couple of wins could put you in a position where you could get yourself out of the bottom four and in fairness it has been a tough league all round this year.”

For Roslea James McMahon and Sean Quigley showed their class throughout with Shane McMahon also putting in an impressive shift while for the losers Niall Clarke had a bright first half and John Fitzpatrick battled well throughout.
