Kinawley 2-10 Lisnaskea 3-07 Daniel Kille inspired Lisnaskea to a share of the spoils in this intriguing encounter with Kinawley. The sharpshooter notched 1-07 over the course of the hour including all of his side’s first half scores.

The game enjoyed a nail biting finish with Lisnaskea grabbing the lead thanks to a controversial Niall McElroy goal before Kinawley scored two points, one from Sean McManus and an injury time free kick from Ruairi Corrigan to tie things up. McElroy was sent off following his goal for an earlier infraction with Kinawley understandably questioning why he was allowed to stay on the field to add the finishing gloss to a fine Emmetts move.

The game started off in whirlwind fashion for the home side as they swept into a 2-01 to 0-00 lead inside the opening seven minutes. Kinawley’s goals came from Conor Murphy and Brendan McManus.

By half time however Lisnaskea had reduced the deficit to four points thanks mainly to Kille who shot 1-05 in the first half. Kinawley finished the opening segment with 2-04 to their name, Shaun Doherty, Conor Murphy and Sean McManus pointing.

The second half saw Kinawley stretch their lead early on with McManus again on target before Lisnaskea came right back into heir game with their second goal of the game coming from the boot of Niall Keenan. That put the game right back in the balance and as the contest entered the closing stages the home side held the slenderest of leads.

And then came the controversy. Niall Bogue lost possession with McElroy appearing to draw out on the loose ball. The ball fell to a Lisnaskea hand however and they proceeded to cut through the defence and McElroy was on hand to finish well to the corner. That left two points between the sides with Lisnaskea in the driving seat but McElroy saw red for his misdemeanour and Kinawley had the numerical advantage for the final few minutes.

McManus reduced the deficit to the minimum with a neat point before a free kick was awarded in the final seconds and the returning Ruairi Corrigan, who had been introduced for the last ten minutes, slipped the ball over the bar to take a share of the spoils.

“It is another one that we probably let get away from us if we are honest. We should have held that lead better,” said Kinawley boss Mark Monaghan, before adding; “But to be fair to our lads they could have dropped the head but they kept at it and in the end did well to dig out the draw.”
