Enniskillen Lakelanders ended their season on a high with a superb end of season gala that saw over 270 entries in 20 different events in what was a real feast of competitive swimming.

The penultimate event was the Western Cars Freestyle Skins - a skins event is an exciting series of races which operate on a knockout basis, with the two remaining swimmers racing each other head to head in the final race. Rachel Evans and Lewis McCartney won their respective Skins to leave with a £50 JD Sports Voucher.

The last race saw the mother of all relays where every swimmer at the event along with a few parents swam in three relays for a bit of fun. It was great to see Tim Fagan, Eamonn Keogh and Fiona Balfour take the plunge.

The points over these events are added up and then a Top Girl and Boy trophy is awarded in each age group. This year these went to Eloise Boyd and Tom Buchannon – Age 8 and under; Anna Cairns and Jamie Lannon – Age 9; Isobel Lannon and Frank Buchanan – Age 10; Ciosa McConnell and Jake Cadden – Age 11; Ellie McCartney and Dylan Convey – Age 12; Tara McKenzie and Jason Man – Age 13 and finally Niamh O’Kane and Sorcha Lavelle (tie) and Kealan McShea.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for parent and swimmers to see the improvements made by many swimmers over the course of a year.

The club would like to thank all the volunteer coaches, parents and swimmers.

With almost 200 PBs on the day and great stroke improvements the coaching team was delighted. Credit must also go to Gala Organisers Noel McManus and Lisa O’Hare.
