Teemore Shamrocks are to undertake an exciting initiative with the launch of the Fermanagh Club All Star awards.

Teemore launched the awards, which will be a fundraiser for the club, last Thursday night at the Manor House Country Hotel.

The All Star team will be selected from the Fermanagh Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships combined and the four person Selection Committee who will pick the team includes Tempo’s John McElroy, Vincie Martin of Derrylin, St. Pat’s Mary Sweeney and Fermanagh PRO and Derrygonnelly clubman Pauric McGurn.

Ciaran Fitzpatrick, who is a member of the organising committee explained were the idea came from.

“We had been kicking around fundraising ideas and we were looking to do something different. There was a couple of people who suggested this idea and we know that it is something that has been particularly successful in Cavan and Tyrone. We feel that it will help to raise the profile of the club championships here and if we can raise some funds for the club in the process then that would be great. We would hope that this can become an annual event” he stated.

On the Selection Committee, he added: “They are well known and respected throughout the county and have a good knowledge of every club.”

The launch night saw a number of guest speakers including All Stars Barry Owens and Marty McGrath, former GAA President Peter Quinn, Fermanagh Chairman Greg Kell, Fr Brian Darcy and John McElroy.

It was also revealed on the night that Encirc Glass and Quinn Building Products will be the main sponsors of the event.

There will no doubt be no shortage of debate over the selection and the winners will be presented their All Star awards at a Gala Event on October 20, in the Manor House Country Hotel.
