Fermanagh ladies manager Emmett Curry was pragmatic at the final whistle having watched his young charges canter to a facile 8-25 to 0-05 win over Antrim in their second and last All Ireland junior group B fixture.

The win puts them in the Junior All Ireland semi final which will be played on September 3.

“Sure you can only really play what is in front of you. Antrim were poor, there is no getting around that but having said that our girls were very good and you can’t ask for any more than that,” he said before adding, “But all week we were hearing that Antrim were going to be stronger, that they had players back and they did, but we went out and we did everything we had to do and more. The game was completely over after 15 minutes.”

When asked who the stand out performers were on the day Curry understandably finds it hard to choose among what were so many strong performances; “The simple answer I suppose is that they were all good.

“And I do mean that, the girls who started and all the girls who came on all played well.”

For the Fermanagh players it is a case of back to club action this weekend with the club championships and Curry will be hoping they all come through that unscathed; “We are meeting as a team just once this week then it is back to the clubs and after that we will get everyone together again and hopefully get a good friendly organised against strong opposition and try and make sure we are at our best for the semi final.”

Fermanagh will have to wait until after this weekend to know who their opponents are going to be.

“We are top of our group and will play second place in the other group but we won’t know that for a while but it is looking like it could possibly be London.

“We will have to wait and see though and be ready for whatever happens,” concluded Emmett.

Fermanagh certainly have had a very straightforward path to the semi final but they nevertheless they have been very impressive in the way that they have played.
