Enniskillen rower Holly Nixon has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, between Sunday, 24 September and Sunday, 1 October.

Holly will once again be hoping to reach the heights of last year when she won gold in the coxless four in Rotterdam at the 2016 championships to become Fermanagh first senior world champion.

Three members of the women’s quadruple scull (W4x) have been named – Beth Bryan, Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne and Holly and they will be looking to build on the European Championships bronze they won in May. The crew will be joined by one other sculler in Florida.

British Rowing Performance Director, Sir David Tanner, said: “The 2017 World Championships come at the end of a long, but rewarding season for the GB Rowing Team.

“We have seen some exceptional performances over the course of the summer to win a number of European Championships and World Cup medals. These Championships are what we’ve built our season around and we plan to be at our peak in Sarasota at the end of September.”
