Magheraveely 2 NFC Kesh 3

NFC Kesh took the spoils in Clones following a five goal thriller that also saw three penalties awarded.
The last of those penalties was in the 97th minute and it afforded Gregory Johnston the opportunity to level the game but unfortunately for the Magheraveely his kick was superbly saved by Ross McClelland in the Kesh nets.
Magheraveely manager Richie Farrell was left to rue a point that got away.
“It just was not to be,” he admitted. “ We had two key players missing in Gary Elliott and Matty Irwin and maybe that told. Kesh had a lot of possession in the first half and took the lead but we got it back to 2-2 and hit the bar but it was not to be. We are still without a point but we have lost the three games by a single goal and were fighting for equalisers in the games. We will keep fighting.”
Nicky Noble was not at the game but was happy to get all three points.
“It’s two wins out of three and fires us up the table which is the main thing. We are away to Lisbellaw this week which will be a big game. the key for us is to try and get a consistent team out on the pitch,” said Noble.
Kesh took the lead after 15 minutes when Grant Ellis headed in a Lee Walker corner at the near post. Aaron Graham extended Kesh’s lead when he finished off a move after good work by Nathan Cashel, the best player on show on the day, down the left wing.
Magheraveely hit right back following a good move between Joe Williamson, Alan Gregg and Gregory Johnston ended with Johnston heading home for 2-1.
On the restart, the teams were level after Gregory Johnston scored from the penalty spot and Johnston also hit the bar with a shot.
Kesh responded well and Mark Jones scored from close range from a Walker cross. Kesh then had the chance to go further ahead through a Lee Walker penalty however Gerry Grew pulled off a super save to deny him.
Jones then had a one on one chance but Grew saved again.
Not to be outdone the Kesh keeper Ross McCelland pulled of a great save to deny Alan Gregg. In the 97th minute, Sean Quigley was taken down by McCelland when clean through but the keeper made amends with an excellent save from Johnston’s spot kick as the points went home with Kesh.
