Finn Valley AC played host to the Ulster uneven age groups and novices championships on Sunday at which Enniskillen Running Club fielded a strong team.
There was success in the Novice Women’s race as the ERC team ran well to place sixth overall. They were led home by young novice Edel Monaghan who commanded the race from start to finish to take the individual title.
At the younger age groups, athletes representing clubs from all of Ulster gathered in Stranolar to see who would claim a top 12 individual place or top three teams to represent their Province in the All Ireland finals next month.
While the weather was mostly dry, the underfoot conditions were muddy and testing. ERC had 17 juniors from the ages of U11 up to U15 running with great heart and determination. Sophia Williams in the U15 girls’ race came 13th and narrowly missed out on a place in the All Ireland’s.
Oisin Cassidy comfortably booked his place in the national finals placing eighth .While in the team races the ERC teams placed sixth and seventh respectively in Ulster.
