Enniskillen Gaels Ulster minor title winning captain, Eoin Beacom has been named the Quinn Products Ulster GAA Writers Monthly Merit Award winner for December.
After much consideration the writers’ vote went to Beacom for his leadership from midfield as captain, his general play and his high fielding. He also added to the Gaels’ scoring tally in their defeats of Ramor Gaels and St Eunan’s. The Fermanagh champions followed up those wins with victory in the final but that game was played on New Year’s Day and doesn’t come into the reckoning.
“Winning the Merit Award is a lovely surprise. There were others in the team who would deserve it as much as me,” said the South West College Sports Science student. “Many of us were playing in the Ulster tournament for the third year in a row and that experience stood to us.
“We had the confidence to deal with situations as they arose.”
Hr received his award at a reception in Quinn’s Corner, Donaghmore where Eoin received an engraved Belleek Living Vase, specially designed silver cuff links from Carlingford House and training gear from O’Neill’s International Sportswear.
He also receives two complimentary tickets for the Ulster GAA Writers’ annual presentation function at the Four Season’s Hotel, Monaghan, on Friday, February 2.
The presentation was made by Quinn Building Products Sales and Marketing Director Seamus McMahon.
