NFC Kesh 3 Enniskillen Town 0

NFC Kesh maintained their push at the top of the Mercer League table as they defeated Enniskillen Town 3-0 at Michael Connolly Park on Tuesday night.
Nicky Noble’s side sit nine points clear of Strathroy Harps and a massive 19 ahead of Enniskillen Rangers but Nicky Noble’s side have played four andn ine games more respectively than their two nearest rivals.
Noble feels that all his side can do is try and win their remaining two fixtures and see where it takes them.
“We will look to win our last two games, that’s all we can do and then see how the others get on. We know that if either of the other two teams go on a run and win their games, which they are both capable of, then they will win the league,” he said.
On Tuesday night there was little separating the sides in the opening period with Rory Judge’s Town side possibly shading things as Kesh goalkeeper Ross McClelland saving with his feet from Frank Wallace before then stopping Michael Simpson’s follow up.
At the other end, Damian Wardman in the Town goal pushed over a Mark Noble effort  while Lee Walker poked a shot just past the post.
The breakthrough though came on the stroke of half time as Walker teed up Flack and he slotted home.
And the home side were to double their advantage on the hour mark when William Simpson was caught trying to see the ball out of play and Walker nipped in to steal possession before picking out Noble who headed home at the back post to kill off the Town challenge.
With Jones’ goal having given the home side breathing space, they went on to control matters and they wrapped up the points as Jones bagged his second of the night from another Walker assist to leave it 3-0 at the finish.
“It was a good game between two good footballing teams and we are delighted with the win,” said Noble. “We probably got our goals at the right time with one before and one after half time and I was pleased with the performance.  I couldn’t fault the work rate, commitment and effort of the players and the important thing was to get the three points.”
Town boss Rory Judge felt the scoreline was maybe an unfair reflection on the game but he had no complaints about the outcome.
“Overall I thought they deserved to win the game, there’s no doubt about that, but the score was harsh on us as I thought we shaded things in the first half only to go in one down at half time and they added another early in the second half.
“We would be disappointed with the goals we conceded as they were from a couple of individual errors,” said Judge.
The Town boss though made no bones about the fact that their season is now focused on next Wednesday night’s Mulhern Cup semi-final against Mountjoy at Ferney Park.
“For us it is all about next Wednesday night and the cup semi-final, that is all that matters,” he added.
