Fermanagh 0-12 Armagh 0-07

Fermanagh produced a controlled performance as they booked their place in the semi final of the Ulster SFC semi-final with a deserved five point win over Armagh at Brewster Park this evening.

Rory Gallagher's charges led by two at the break, 0-06 to 0-04, and they went on to open up a six point lead by the 50th minute after Armagh had been reduced to 14 men following the dismissal of Niall Grimley in the second minute of the half.

And Fermanagh remained comfortable through to the finish as they set up a meeting with the winners of tomorrow's Tyrone v Monaghan quarter-final tie.

Fermanagh made a bright start to the game as they opened up a 0-04 to 0-01 advantage by the 11th minute.

Indeed, Seamie Quigley had an early goal chance when he latched on to an attempt by brother Sean that came back off the upright but Armagh goalkeeper Blaine Burns made a good save.

Seamie Quigley did open the scoring soon after when he clipped over a free and the excellent Declan McCusker doubled the lead with a point from play.

Armagh got off the mark in the seventh minute as Mark Shields fired over but Fermanagh continued to have the better of the exchanges and Barry Mulrone and Ryan Jones both landed points from play to put Gallagher's side three ahead.

Armagh though began to work their way back into it and Ethan Rafferty rifled over a long range point from a free before adding a point from play although Fermanagh were finding pockets of space in the Armagh defence and from one such situation Ryan Jones banged over his second point of the game to make it 0-05 to 0-03.

Both sides notched wides from scoreable positions over the course of the half but a Gavin McPartland free for the Orchard County in the 31st minute closed the gap to one point.

It was Fermanagh though who had the last say of the half as Seamie Quigley slotted over a free to leave the home side two points to the good at half time, 0-06 to 0-04.

The sending off of Grimley came at the start of the second half with the Madden man adjudged to have caught Sean Quigley with an elbow and from the resultant free Seamie Quigley put Fermanagh three ahead and Sean Quigley soon followed up with a well struck point from the right to put four in it, 0-08 to 0-04.

With the man advantage, Fermanagh dominated things over the next period and Lee Cullen clipped over after being set up by Kane Connor while Seamie Quigley quickly tagged on a free to put six between the sides.

Armagh did hit back with two converted Grugan frees as Fermanagh seemed to take their foot of the gas and the Orchard were also guilty of some poor wides as they looked to cut the gap.

However, a fisted Seamie Quigley point with eight minutes to go put the result beyond doubt and the Roslea man knocked over his sixth point from a free to make it 0-12 to 0-06.

Grugfan did land a late free for Armagh but this was only a consolation score as Fermanagh finished up 0-12 to 0-07 winners.
