Fermanagh 4-11

Offaly 6-18

Fermanagh will have one more bite at the Intermediate cherry when they face Longford this Saturday.

This follows a spirited performance against Offaly that saw them lose out to the superior quality in the Leinster girl's attack.

The game with Longford is down for decision at Sheelin Park, Ballymachugh, County Cavan with time of throw in to be confirmed.

Offaly have secured their status at Intermediate level while the clash with Longford is last chance saloon for Emmitt Curry and his young charges.

The Erne boss was pleased with the performance that his side put in against the Faithful county:

"I thought we played well for long parts and there is definitely improvement. I know that might be hard to see given the results but we can see it. We just got caught with some goals at the weekend but overall the girls fought very hard."

Offaly jumped into an early five point leading which included their first goal of the game on five minutes but Fermanagh were to fight back lead by the deadly duo of Eimear Smyth and Blaithin Bogue. Smyth hit 1-01 with Bogue very much the instigator of all the good Erne attacks.

Offaly had a second goal but Fermanagh came right back with Joanne Doonan adding points before Smyth hammered home her second goal of the day.

The winners were to dominate proceedings up to half time however and a string of points had them seven points to the good.

Things got worse for the Erne county after the break as Offaly hit for two quick goals to put the result beyond doubt. However Fermanagh refused to throw in the towel and they had two further goals from Bogue and Doonan while a series of points were added by Smyth and Orlagh Leaonard.

Fermanagh had the deficit back to ten points before a last minute goal from the penalty spot gave the Faithful their sixth goal of the game.

The Erne county were well served by Courtney Murphy and Aisling Maguire in defence while Roisin O'Reilly had her moments in the middle of the field with the aforementioned Bogue, Doonan and Smyth all showing up well in the forward line.

"It all comes down to this game with Longford now. If we win that we stay up and it is as simple as that," Fermanagh boss Curry stated.
