Belnaleck 2-15

Maguiresbridge 1-09

Belnaleck secured a spot in the Intermediate Championship semi final with an excellent win over Maguiresbridge in this replay; played under lights at Brewster Park on Thursday night.

Just a point separated the sides at half time but two second half goals for the Art MacMurroughs was the difference as they move on to play Enniskillen Gaels in the semi final.

Belnaleck started the game the brighter outfit and moved five poitns to one in front with Ciaran McBrien, Bryan Owens and Daragh McGurn all on target.

The Bridge rallied however and Ciaran Corrigan, Daniel Teague and Ronan Teague all contributed to the scoreboard to leave it 0-07 to 0-06 at half time.

The Bridge had a chance of a goal early in the second half but Caolan Duffy fired over when he snapped up a loose ball in the square. That score did bring the sides level but it was to be Belnaleck who took over the game from this point.

Sean Lewsley strode through to hammer home a fine goal that put his side three points to the good. They continued in the same vein with McGurn, Conor McCauley, Dermot Lewsley and McBrien all adding points.

The Bridge were shell shocked and when Oran McCarney forged forward on the right hand side to shoot a second goal for Belnaleck any doubt as to the outcome of the game was gone.

Maguiresbridge did get a consolation goal through a Daniel Teague driven free kick but in the end the better team won through.

Kane Connor and Ryan Cassidy were excellent in defence for Belnaleck with Dwyane McNulty getting through a lot of work in the middle third while in attack Owens and McGurn were always a threat.

For the Bridge Andrew Breslin, Ronan Teague and Ciaran Corrigan were the pick of their performers on the night. They will now meet Lisnaskea in a relegation play off with the winner securing their Intermediate status for next season.
