The committee of the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland (NCFFI), for 2011 reinstated the Interprovincial for Junior Anglers and local young anglers from Fermanagh played their part in a win for Ulster The six man/woman team event was fished on Saturday on Gaulmoylestown Lake near Mullingar, by the kind permission of the Gaulmoylestown Club.

This highly successful event sponsored by the Inland Fisheries Ireland, Tubertini and Dawia, and was a resounding success for all involved.

The event fished very well with all 24 anglers (from 8 to 17 years of age) catching fish.

Individual winner was 17-year-old Aaron Hutchman (Ulster) East Belfast Angling Club with 27lbs 5ozs of mainly Carp on peg 11. Runner-up was Ciaran Haughian also 17 (Ulster) Erne Anglers Angling Club with 20lbs 8ozs on peg 19.

Mark Connolly 17 years old (Leinster) was third on peg 17 with 19lbs 15ozs.

Ulster won the team event by a good margin (21points 102lbs 04ozs) thanks to four section wins a second and a third in their six man team.

The minor placings were much closer with only one point separating the teams in second, third and fourth.

Leinster came out second with 14pts and 61lbs 09ozs, Munster, third 13pts and 46lbs 03ozs, with Connacht fourth 12pts and 42lbs 02ozs.

The Ireland Junior Team manager Gavin Walsh will now select a team of seven anglers to go to Scotland to fish the Celtic Cup in August.
